Pick-to-light systems were designed to provide system integrators and end users with a light directed order fulfillment system that is easily installed, controlled, and maintained. RFID
RFID is short for radio frequency identification, a technology similar in theory to bar code identification. An RFID system consists of a tag with an antenna and a transceiver, which reads the radio frequency and transfers the information to a processing device, and a transponder, or tag, which is an integrated circuit containing the RF circuitry and information to be transmitted. One of the key differences between RFID and bar code technology is RFID eliminates the need for line-of-sight reading that bar coding depends on. Below are several types of rack available:
- SELECTIVE RACK – the most flexible and commonly used type of rack available. It is available in both roll-formed and structural.
- DRIVE-IN/DRIVE THRU – is an economic high density storage rack design. It has fewer aisles and offers up to 75% more pallet storage locations than conventional selective rack.
- PUSH BACK – Also high density with less aisles but offers greater selectivity than drive-rack.
- PALLET FLOW – the most dense rack design available. This design offers dense storage. Pallets are loaded from one end and flow effortlessly to the other end. It also provides a first-in/first-out design.
- CANTELIVER RACK – Designed for long or bulky loads such as lumber, pipes or carpet. There are no aisle uprights that would limit the use of horizontal space.
- CARTON FLOW RACK – Separating your picking and stocking aisles for full cartons and split cases can save you up t o75% of your labor costs compared to selective rack. Cartons can also be used with Selective Rack to allow storage of both cartons and pallets.
